video – Fiddlin’ Bob Douglas

Since Bob Douglas is a favorite on the Vinyl Frontier, I thought I’d repost this video from BanjoR549 at Youtube. Born in the Sequatchie Valley of Tennessee, Bob Douglas had a radio program in Chattanooga for many years – he is reputed to have been the first musician to perform on the air in that area. In addition, he gave Ira and Charlie Louvin their first jobs as professional musicians. He only recorded sporadically, but there is a sampling of his music available (on LP, no less) for purchase from the Tennessee Folklore Society.

Here’s a link to an audio clip and more info about Bob Douglas and some other fiddlers at the Friends of the Cumberland Trail’s informative website.
